Will Microsoft Bing really gonna be a default search for iPhone?

June 1st, 2010 by Mohammad Abdurraafay 1 comment »

According to rumors on web that Microsoft and Apple are in talk to get Bing(Search Engine) on iPhone as a default search engine on Safari for iPhone. Some rumors hint that Google Search will be replaced by Bing. Well, we’re left with just a week to go, to get the news on it.

If you think this rumor holds some value and might turn into real news later. Then, one thing I just don’t understand is, why an iPhone OS 4 beta has a Google suggestions enabled into Safari for iPhone which is been tested by iPhone Developers ? Yep, Apple has taken Google search a little more closer to iPhone in iPhone OS 4 and hints nothing for Bing.

Well, all I think is, Bing might get place as an optional search engine but not a default one. It will be up to user which one to use. If you still think, that iPhone’s default Google search will get replaced by Bing, please do let us know, why?

iPhone finally gets Free 3G Skype till 2011

June 1st, 2010 by Mohammad Abdurraafay No comments »

Skype has introduced Skype for iPhone 2.0 which hits the App Store yesterday allowing users to communicate over 3G networks. Update log for Skype in App Store was having a clear note that there won’t be any calling charges for Skype-to-Skype over 3G at least till August 2010.

Skype which is well known for free calling service, but now Apple and their alliance is making it a paid service for iPhone users which is very bad actually. Apple has allowed Skype over 3g till 2011 from August 2010, this is probably a good news.

Well, if Apple has decided to allow Skype over 3G network then this shows that they’re actually looking for the user response over this update. If the user started using Skype instead of phone call, then this becomes a troublesome for Apple and their alliance if not then, hopefully they’ll allow Skype for free.

iPhone Footprint’s App Excellence Award winners for 2009 is out

June 1st, 2010 by Mohammad Abdurraafay No comments »

iPhone Footprint has finally put up their winners list for App Excellence Awards which is conducted every year. They have chosen some really awesome apps from App Store from each category. This is indeed to make people ease to find better app for their iPhone / iPod / iPad, rather than investing huge in finding better app for their need.

With this huge marketplace of applications, is quiet confusing for any new comer to iPhone / iPod / iPad. I think this is a great way to encourage developers for creating great applications on iPhone platform while pushing them.

You can get details about their App Excellence Awards from their Official post & also check out the direct link of winners.

7 predictions on what WWDC has in store for iPhone Developer

June 1st, 2010 by Mohammad Abdurraafay No comments »

Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference is commencing from 7th June with Steve Jobs’ keynote and will continue till 11th June. This keynote usually reveals everything what Apple has to show off to meet the next generation requirements. Last year when WWDC 2009 was held by Apple, it brought us the new iPhone with new iPhone OS 3.0 update to existing devices and the Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

So, Every year we get to know / see / experience some great stuff from Apple and people start making speculation about this event, before it actually begins. Now, before it starts this year, I’ve done a compilation of predictions which is based on the pure aggregation of web content and a little research from my side.

iPhone 4G / HD

There is no doubt that iPhone 4G / HD is going to be the biggest news of the year. Apple didn’t change the look for iPhone 3GS compared to the iPhone 3G model and now the speculations are high that Apple might come out with a completely new model for iPhone 4G / HD .

Last month, Jason Chen of Gizmodo showed us the new iPhone 4g / HD prototype that was later claimed as Apple’s stolen property by Apple Inc.. Other sources says that the iPhone 4g / HD which was reviewed by Jason Chen was pretty original. Some new iPhone 4g / HD models was revealed at Vietnam with a proper finish and packed. This shows us that the new iPhone will probably get a new refresh looks and feels.

Apple MobileMe

There are the strong rumors about MobileMe service gonna be available for free in coming days for the new and existing users. If you’re an Android user you might be using Google Sync for free which is similar as MobileMe for iPhone users, but paid service. There are hints of more robust background Syncing services in iPhone OS 4 Beta which was found by iPhone developers, probably this is related to MobileMe Syncing.

iTunes Cloud

Apple’s renowned online music marketplace might stream music based on subscription in coming days. Apple acquired Lulu, an online music streaming service last year and has shut it down last month after the iPhone OS 4 preview event. Now, this clearly shows that Apple is doing something related to music streaming services.

Some folks, has also found that Apple has filed patent which signals at cloud streaming services. According to this new patent, user might actually resume watching Movie / TV Show which was paused on another  device(iPhone) and might able to watch recap before resuming it.

Apple TV

This product from Apple might receive some major update. Some sources says that, Apple TV might get loaded up with iPhone OS. And that might also run an existing iPhone and iPad Apps from App Store.

This product may get a huge changes apart from just the OS tweaks. Seems like, TV channel guide and subscriptions also gonna be added.

Microsoft Bing

There were some rumors that Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft will be talking to developers at WWDC during the first day keynote. But this was cleared by Tweet from Microsoft’s Twitter account after about couple of hours of breaking of this rumor. Now, when it’s cleared that Ballmer is not speaking at WWDC then people started thinking about why was this circulated or what’s the reason behind. Some bloggers / content writers / editors claim that Bing might come as a default search engine for Safari on iPhone.

New Mac Pro

Usually, MacBook and MacBook Pro get announced during WWDC. But this year, Apple has taken care of it already by refreshing the new MacBook Pro with SSD, better graphic accelerator and better battery backup and made it available on Apple online store last month. Only one thing which we didn’t heard about, is Mac Pro, that is expected to be announced at this WWDC. Seems like, Mac Pro gonna get better graphic accelerator followed by quad core Xenon processor.

Refresh MacBook Air

The new MacBook and MacBook Pro is already out with lots of improvements, etc. Now, the MacBook Air is the remaining product in it’s class which didn’t received any recent update yet and I’m hoping to see some great improvements for it.

Well, at some times MacBook Air conflicts with iPad. MacBook Air was introduced as Web consuming device when it first came out. But I’m guessing that a MacBook Air will be made more powerful with it’s same form factor. So that, it’s called a computer that can be used for various other things and not just for consuming Web.

Now, these are just some expectations. I don’t know whether all of them will show up at WWDC. I’m hoping at least two of them will turn up. Let us know what you think..
