A study by mobile analytics firm Localytics reveals that Verizon has managed to capture 32% of all US iPhone 4 traffic despite its rival AT&T’s nearly eight-month head start. The study once again proves Verizon’s rapid iPhone growth since its launch in February. The study further notes that “Summer has seen significant growth in Verizon’s market share. After spending most of the spring at roughly the same share, Verizon has seen consecutive monthly jumps, grabbing 7% of the market for itself in May and June.”

The study observes that one of the reasons for Verizon’s rapid growth may be its unlimited data plan, which it is scheduled to do away with on July 7th. AT&T has already discontinued its unlimited data plan last year. With iPhone 5 launch on the cards, we have to wait to see how the heated battle between AT&T and Verizon shapes out.

Until now, an iPhone developer looking to include advertisements into their mobile applications has been generally limited to running countrywide advertisements. But that is all set to change as mobile carrier AT&T is planning to allow in-app local advertising. The company is set to release tools that will make it possible for iPhone developers and others to make use of location based promotion in their apps.
Experts believe that the latest move by the US mobile carrier will provide interested parties including iPhone developers an alternative to Google’s AdMob. Location based in-app advertisements will also bring additional revenue to an iPhone developer.
According to David Krantz, the Chief Executive and President of AT&T Interactive, the company is currently testing the functionality in a private beta and is using its sports applications as a proving ground.
The SDK for in-app location based advertising is expected to be released later this year.

Apple sold about 2 million iPad in less than 60 days with unlimited dataplan. It’s bad that, iPad owners in America may not get unlimited data package from here on and not only just iPad owners but iPhone owners too. There seems to be some major changes with tariff of dataplans.
There are two plans namely, Data Plus and Data Pro.
DataPlus is the cheapest plan, that provides you with 200MB of data for $15 per month. Right now, iPhone users pay $30 for unlimited dataplan which is quiet double of latest 200MB plan. If you exceed 200MB in a month with $15 plan, then you need to pay another $15 to get more 200MB.
DataPro is the plan with 2GB of data priced at $25 per month and if you exceed the limit you need to pay $10 for additional 1GB. This plan is designed for the heavy data users on iPhone / iPad. According to AT&T, 98 percent of their total iPhone data users never crossed 2GB in a month. If you never crossed 2GB over a month on your iPhone or iPad then this plan might gives you the feeling of unlimited dataplan.
These new changes are signaling me that the new iPhone gonna have some major changes with respects to it’s carrier support. It might be with AT&T’s exclusivity for iPhone or AT&T is trying to provide better service to their customers.
