A few days back Apple released the new version of SDK for iOS 4.0.1. The SDK is now available for the iPhone developers to be downloaded freely. The new SDK 4.0.1 has been upgraded with some features to support new firmware version and other enhancements and tweaks as well.

A full change log for the new SDK has been published by Softpedia which shows the details of the improvements:

Support for iOS SDK 4.0.1 to target iPhone / iPod touch devices updated to iOS 4.0.1

Auto-provisioning of new devices – click “Use for Development” to add device to portal

Xcode will automatically send your device ID to the Provisioning Portal

A global provisioning profile including this device will be downloaded to Xcode

All team members can develop with the new device once Xcode refreshes

Use “Export Developer Profile” to backup developer certificates and profiles

Menu item: “Upgrade Current Target for iPad…” to convert to Universal app

Base SDK is set to iPhone SDK 4.0

iPhone OS Deployment Target is set to iPhone OS 3.2 or earlier

Targeted Device Family is set to iPhone/iPad

For iPhone-only, use iPhone SDK 4.0 and target iPhone OS 4.0 or earlier

For iPad-only development, use iPhone SDK 3.2 and target iPhone OS 3.2

The LLVM compiler and LLVM GCC now support building with iOS SDK 4.0

One of Apple’s spokesperson addressed a tightly packed press conference in Cupertino, California to explain several issues with iPhone and iOS 4.0.1. Apple claimed that iPhone 4 does not have as many issues as believed, but it’s not “perfect” either. However, experts are hopeful that iPhone developers will get it easier to fix the issues with iOS 4.0.1 SDK.

Some iPhone developers reported that the recently released iOS4 is not performing well with iPhone 3G model. Responding to this issue, Apple has confirmed that their engineers are analyzing the issues and these problems will be fixed very soon.

The iPhone 3G does not allow multi-tasking. It has resulted in limited access to the features of iOS4 in the 3G model. Further reports have confirmed that iPhone 3G users are facing a very slow processing in their devices after updating it with iOS4.

However, it has been observed that the new iOS 4.1 Beta is performing little better on this model and we can expect that the performance will be even better with the stable release of iOS 4 next time. It can also be expected that iPhnoe app developers will find their job easier with the new improved version of iOS4.

Finally iOS 4.0 gold master edition is available to all iPhone and iPad developers. All you have to do is to head to Apple’s developers page and download the new iOS 4.0 SDK kit and you need not be a paid member of the Apple’s developer program to relish the benefits.

Gold Master edition along with iTunes 9.2 was announced as seeded for developers earlier but that was just a release candidate version of the SDK. Now iPhone developers can access the actual version of the developer software development kit and start making some seriou apps for the new iPhone 4 if tweaking an existing application for iOS 4 compatibility isn’t your cup of tea.

Also developers should expect iPad iOS 4 SDK Beta version release very soon after the launch date of iPhone 4 along with much expected Game Centre application which is claimed to be the next best thing in iPhone Game development. So from users point of view their isn’t much to worry about as you will have a bunch of apps to choose for download on the day of purchase of glossy black spectacle.

The existent iPhone applications have to be modified for the multitasking feature of the new iOS 4.

With the launch date of the iPhone 4 nearing all application developers are racing to get their product iOS 4 compatible and be first up in the app store. However a certain problem which might be a concern to iPhone developers is that Apple is taking lot of time to review apps and all the big players in the application development field are already up there. While many iPhone developers didn’t show much concern about it as making few tweaks to their current apps could make it suitable for iOS4, Apple’s delay in approval of new apps is definitely a concern for most.

Since the new iPhone OS is hitting the shelves on June 21st, Apple wants to fill in the App store by then so that all iPhone 4 buyers can start downloading them on their way home.

This is true that from here on iPhone OS will called as iOS and the latest iPhone OS 4 is now an iOS4. So, from here onwards we’ll call ourselves an iOS Developer.

Well, now one thing is pretty simple to understand that why did they changed the name of OS from iPhone OS to iOS, they wanted to use iPhone OS in almost all of their products in coming days or they’re simply coming up with plenty of new segment devices, in which iPhone OS will be used. Those devices which will not be a phone but will be running on iPhone OS, why not just change the name of OS. If you’re an iPhone developer you know how weird it was to talk about iPad and saying that iPad runs on iPhone OS which was pretty much changed through its UI. So, now we call that the iPad runs on iOS 3.2.

I believe that all the device starting with ‘i’ will eventually have iOS loaded in it, in coming days. This is just what I think. If you’ve something in your mind, do let us know leaving a comment below.

Yep that’s true that whatever we speculated didn’t turned up precisely but yeah, one thing what we speculated and turned up well is that the new iPhone 4 is the same iPhone prototype which Gizmodo covered last month.

The new iPhone 4 has the best things in it for both iPhone Developers and iPhone users. One of the best things about it is its Retina Display with 960×640 pixels. Its screen clarity is just WOW! Above all, we iPhone Developers doesn’t really need to rescale our apps to match this new display quality density as we do it on other platforms like Android where we need to design your app keeping different screen densities in our mind. Whereas, iPhone does it all by its own and what else, it makes your existing app looks really better but if you try and enhance it it’ll look stunning on the new iPhone 4.

All together the new iPhone has lots of great new hardware features added in it. Do return to this blog to get new details on iPhone 4.
