There are over 100,000 apps available for iPad on the App Store. The figure was reached less than 16 months since the iPad was released. The number consist of only those applications that are written exclusively for the Apple’s tablet and does not include iPhone apps that also run on iPad.
With over 425,000 applications, Apple’s App Store is the biggest store and is one of major reasons behind the popularity of Apple devices. As app usage increase, application choices have become one of the major determining factors in the Tablet buying decision. And, with the app number increasing for iPad, rivals like Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom will have difficult time luring buyers.

Nearly 9 months after it was first unveiled to the world in US, Apple’s iconic iPad now debuts in India. The pricing of the device is in line with the prices in Europe, which means that Apple has taken a shift from its normal strategy of setting a high premium while launching its devices. Both the Wi-Fi as well as the Wi-Fi-plus 3G versions of the devices is available on the market.
With its launch today, the iPad will now be available in one of the emerging economies of the world. Analysts are also seeing it as a strategy of Apple to look beyond its traditional strongholds and to reach wider audience. India has a huge mobile customer base and other players of the market like Blackberry, Samsung and Android have been here for some time. iPad’s introduction in India will surely see churn in tablet market where Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and Olivepad are already competing.
However, the move may also open up new market for iPad app developers who were feeling the heat due to growing popularity of Android over iPhone.

iPad application developers and HTML5 enthusiasts would be more than happy to know that the web giant Yahoo has given a solid example of how effectively HTML 5 can be used for developing iPad applications. This can be regarded as a powerful vote for HTML5 and a serious vote against flash as Steve Jobs has always said.

Among the new features are local caching for offline access, improvements to searching and organization, enhanced attachment handling, and a dual pane view similar to that employed by the native iPad email application. Earlier in May Gmail launched a similar interface to fit in to the iPad. And after trying both of then I must say Yahoo mail on the iPad is better both user experience wise and feature wise.

Apple sold about 2 million iPad in less than 60 days with unlimited dataplan. It’s bad that, iPad owners in America may not get unlimited data package from here on and not only just iPad owners but iPhone owners too. There seems to be some major changes with tariff of dataplans.
There are two plans namely, Data Plus and Data Pro.
DataPlus is the cheapest plan, that provides you with 200MB of data for $15 per month. Right now, iPhone users pay $30 for unlimited dataplan which is quiet double of latest 200MB plan. If you exceed 200MB in a month with $15 plan, then you need to pay another $15 to get more 200MB.
DataPro is the plan with 2GB of data priced at $25 per month and if you exceed the limit you need to pay $10 for additional 1GB. This plan is designed for the heavy data users on iPhone / iPad. According to AT&T, 98 percent of their total iPhone data users never crossed 2GB in a month. If you never crossed 2GB over a month on your iPhone or iPad then this plan might gives you the feeling of unlimited dataplan.
These new changes are signaling me that the new iPhone gonna have some major changes with respects to it’s carrier support. It might be with AT&T’s exclusivity for iPhone or AT&T is trying to provide better service to their customers.
