Some iPhone developers reported that the recently released iOS4 is not performing well with iPhone 3G model. Responding to this issue, Apple has confirmed that their engineers are analyzing the issues and these problems will be fixed very soon.

The iPhone 3G does not allow multi-tasking. It has resulted in limited access to the features of iOS4 in the 3G model. Further reports have confirmed that iPhone 3G users are facing a very slow processing in their devices after updating it with iOS4.

However, it has been observed that the new iOS 4.1 Beta is performing little better on this model and we can expect that the performance will be even better with the stable release of iOS 4 next time. It can also be expected that iPhnoe app developers will find their job easier with the new improved version of iOS4.

Apple has released iPhone OS 4 in beta preview for iPhone Developers with paid account. But here is a little problem if you’re an iPhone 3G user. iPhone OS 4 works well on iPhone 3G and supports all the new features except for ‘Multitasking. It’s been said, “iPhone 3G has incompatible hardware to support Multitasking feature”.

If you’re an iPhone 3G user you will probably have to wait for some more time to experience multitasking. There’s a new iPhone coming up this summer. It would also mean iPhone developers who are creating apps based on this multitasking feature would serve only users with iPhone 3GS.

Your iPhone 3G will be getting the rest of the cool features offered by iPhone OS 4, like Wallpaper, Folders etc. Keep checking back this place to know more about what iPhone 3G & 3GS are getting in particular.

Many of my friends woke up to a rude shock when they found that their devices updated to iPhone OS 3.0.1 were not supported by iPhone SDK 3.1 Beta 3 for development.

If you too are experiencing the same problem, here is the solution to continue iPhone development with iPhone SDK 3.0 for your iPhone running iPhone OS 3.0.1.

1. Log-in to your MAC with an Admin account and launch the Terminal application (You will find it in /Applications/Utilities)
2. Copy and Paste the following line into the Terminal window
ln -s /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/3.0\ \(7A341\) /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/3.0.1

Note: If you have not installed iPhone SDK 3.0 in the default location “/Developer”, replace the “/Developer” directory in the above line as appropriate.
