September 30th, 2010 by arun No comments »

A recent report by open-first suggests that iPhone Developers are making more money from the App development industry than they actually expected initially. The survey was conducted between August 30th and September 10th and the takeaways proved to be very interesting. In the survey 48 percent of iPhone application developers said that the amount of cash they make from the Apple App Store has exceeded their expectations.

The survey consisted of a detailed questionnaire and a follow up via a phone call. 110 iPhone developers participated in the contest and about 28% of them were not happy with the monetary returns. However 99% of them confirmed that they will continue publishing apps to the app store. This is another proof that iPhone app industry is blooming and it will continue to churn out money for developers.

Report says iAds sure to gain further Mobile Ad share

September 28th, 2010 by arun No comments »

Iads, Apple’s new Advertising network which helps iPhone and iPad developers to make money and companies build their business has kicked off well says the recent survey. The survey made by IDC reports that Apple’s share in mobile advertising will reach 21% of the entire market share. If this feat is achieved this should be considered as an emphatic win for Apple as snatching almost quarter of mobile Ad market share in less than a year is a phenomenal success.

Even Google’s reputed Ad-Mob is losing its share to the iAds along with Yahoo and Nokia. It is time for other mobile platforms to enter in to Ad ventures if they want to make a decent mark in the mobile advertising world. Else Apple will grab a major share in a time which people can rarely imagine.

Android Surpasses iPhone Sales for Q2 2010

August 13th, 2010 by Saptarshi Roy Chaudhury No comments »

A recent report from Gartner said that Android OS has surpassed iPhone sales of mobile phones for the second quarter of 2010. Cross platform Android and iPhone developers would be more than just happy to know their favorite OS competing actively. This is amazing news for Android lovers even though not an alrming one for Apple. The report mentioned that about 10.6 million phones run on Android OS which represent 17.2% 2010 market share. iPhone stood at 8.74 million iOS phones with a 14.2% 2010 market share. Once again the top 2 Mobile OS share is dominated by Symbian with 41.2% of the market and RIM with 18.2% of the market.

Analyzing the possible reasons I feel that the shortage of iPhone 4 devices and also the series of rumors spread on blogs might have limited buying to a certain extent. Also another important reason is the iPhone 4 has not yet shipped to other countries yet. Also about 20 major handsets has shipping Android OS this season which is a major cutting edge for Android in Quarter 2 2010. All I can say is better days for iPhone are coming in Q3 and Q4 when the iPhone 4 spreads like an epidemic and more and more fantastic iOS 4 compatible apps hits the market.

Tawkon app shows increased Radiation levels during Death Grip

August 10th, 2010 by Saptarshi Roy Chaudhury No comments »

Everyone right now might be dissing the iPhone and all those big SmartPhone companies because of the loss in reception due to the death grip. But not many except the experts at Tawkon have looked at the issue from the radiation point of view. Tawkon developers of world’s first Cellphone radiation measurement application has noted that the cellphone radiations have increased in large way when the SmartPhone was held a bit tightly.

Tawkon released a video in their blog demonstrating how radiation levels push hard when the grip of death comes in to play. The video shows how all the major smartphones increase their radiation levels when the phone is subjected to pressure.

Cellular radiation app developer Tawkon starts tell Apple petition

July 27th, 2010 by Saptarshi Roy Chaudhury No comments »

Few weeks ago we covered a very important news on Tawkon the world’s only application which notifies a user about cellular radiation. The news mentioned Apple’s invitation to Tawkon developers to Cupertino which was made shortly after the developers created a similar application for Blackberry. But Apple has once again shunned the iPhone application for a reason not revealed yet.

Apple’s behavior towards the cellular radiation application has irked resentment in many iPhone users who seriously wish to know the radiation levels they are subjected to when they use the phone. I always believe people deserve the right not to have radiation statistics hidden from them. Not only did the iPhone developer create an application which shares SAR levels but also an app which shows real-time gauge to see when they’re exposed to higher and lower levels of radiation. The Tawkon application minimizes radiation exposure of a cellphone at any given time.

I feel Apple’s response to the developers plea for appstore approval is a very damaging in users interest and eventually will cause people doubting Apple’s transparency letting know its radiation levels.

If you want to help Tawkon out in making it get download able to Apple users then you can sign this email and send it to Apple within a single click.
